The news has been official for over...3 weeks now? Something like that. But yes, Mr. Casey Hoopes proposed to me on September 6 and life has been nothing but a crazy whirlwind ever since!
Casey pulled a fake out on me like I've never seen before. The Saturday before he proposed, I was actually starting my job at the new Zeppe's store in Providence and was training three of the new girls. Casey and my wonderful roomie, Ashley, came in to grab some munchies and visit with me during work to see how things were going.
He had told me it was going to be another 3 weeks before he could propose (which was making me SUPER nervous, cause like, HELLO! We had the wedding date picked out and needed to get the engagements done like pronto) and I was kinda bummed but I let things lie. He and Ash were telling me how they just came to see me and see how my new workplace was.
FAT LIARS!!!! They had just picked up the ring!!! Casey had the ring in his car while he was standing there telling me that he'd see me after work and to have an awesome day and blah blah blah.
Switch to Monday. Casey is telling me how he wants to take me to this awesome hike in Logan to the Wind Caves with a "special" group of friends. I seriously should have been picking up on these signals that there was something sneaky going on, but I nodded my head and agreed to the hike. Also, Ashley was telling me how psyched she was for this hike and couldn't wait to go on it. Suspicious? Slightly.
Well, the hike got canceled in favor of hanging with our families that day. And guess what?? THEY WERE IN ON IT TOO!!! Bums. Every single one of them.
So come like 5:30 that evening, Casey and I leave O-town for Lo-town and he turns to me and asks if I'd like to go to dinner. K, I love food so that was a dumb question. We get to talking and I ask where he was interested in eating for dinner and he mentions Hamiltons. That's when the warning bells went off in my head. Hamiltons is this SUPER nice steak and seafood restaurant in Lo-town and it's where all the millionaires in Lo-town go to eat (which is pretty funny cause you'd think their wouldn't be that many rich people, but suprisingly there is a TON).
I ask him what the occasion was, and he kinda fumbles for an excuse and comes up with our sixth month anniversary for dating which was on September 1st. Lies. We went to dinner the night before for the anniversary. But I rolled with it and heard him call the reservation in while driving through Sardine Canyon.
Fast Forward to dinner. He picks me up 5 minutes late which I didn't mind at all, but was slightly unusual cause he's normally 5 minutes early. Again, I wasn't connecting the dots and wouldn't realize until much later that something was really going on.
Dinner was divine and through out the meal, Casey and I kept shooting these cute little looks at each other. We had a private round booth in a tucked away corner of the room, so it was pretty private. I kept cuddling next to him and he kept shooting me this smirk and kept squeezing my hand it was positively adorable. We talked about us through out the meal and discussing the future together.
Well, he goes on to tell me how he wish he could propose to me right then and there but the ring wouldn't be in for a while and how if he could propose to me with the time and everything, how it would have been such a magical and special moment. He asked me though, what my reaction would be if he proposed right then and there.
Honestly, I could give a flying rats patootie on how/where/when he propose to me. It was going to be from him and it was going to be the most honest and sincere thing and that's what I wanted. I told him such and added that since the beginning of the meal to the very end, he had made me feel like I was the most amazing girl and like a princess.
He grinned and left it at that. Meal ended. Check came. I grabbed my coat and stood up to leave when Casey turns around to stand in front of me. He got down one knee, and said, "Before we leave though, I have this question to ask you."
You have got to be kidding me. I asked him that, if he was joking around and if he was serious. I didn't think this was really happening. Well, then the waiter started taking pictures, and that's when I knew everything was REAL!!! Hahaha!
He proposed to me right then and there, and I said yes. I was crying and ballin' up a storm and could hardly see the ring when he put it on my finger, but it was so amazing! When we got back to the car, I really let loose and just grabbed him in this hug and cried this fat wet spot on his shirt cause I was so DARN HAPPY!!!
Well, we get to the frat house that he lives in (he's a member of the Sigma Phi Epsilon fratnerity and I LOVE those boys!!) and the plan was just for the two of us to cuddle and watch a movie. Well, we get there and I'm walking ahead of him to get in the house and that's when I hear the music playing.
Now, since Casey lives in a frat house their is crazy stuff goin' on ALL the time, so I automatically assumed it was just a random dance party going on. WRONG!!!
I walk in to see Travis and Jeff, two frat brothers, dressed to the nines in suits and ties playing acoustic guitar in the common area. A bunch of other guys are peaking around the corner, taking photos and video. As soon as they see me, they start singing this song called "Sig Ep Sweetheart."
It was the cue for more brothers to show up and up from the basement come 6 more brothers and each of them are carrying a rose. They all started singing with Travis and Jeff and then one by one, they came up and gave me a rose so by the end of the song, I had this beautiful bouquet of roses and more tears going down my face.
These guys are SO awesome! They helped out so much and went through all this effort to make it the most magical and wonderful night ever!
I love my man and 88 days till he's mine for now and all eternity. :)
